Plunging into 2024!

What a beautiful morning to welcome in the new year! The 7th Annual Polar Bear Plunge took place at North Beach on this chilly but brilliantly sunny and 51° New Year’s 2024 morning. The gathered crowd of more than 250 people was the largest ever for this event. Parking was at a premium – not a spare space could be found.

As the photos convey, it was a terrific morning on the beach and a good time was had by all, including four-footed friends. Thanks to The Lake House staff for organizing this event and thanks to all who made the plunge or cheered them on!

Intrepid swimmers of all ages and their fans gathered waiting for the countdown to the plunge.

The Seabrook Island Turtle Patrol was well represented wearing their bright red shirts – some to swim and others to cheer them on!

The large and enthusiastic crowd made its way to the shoreline, and as the countdown concluded, more than 100 hearty swimmers leapt into the chilly Atlantic as onlookers watched in amazement while clicking photos!

Some plungers quickly returned to warming towels while others lingered in the surf. A bonfire and hot chocolate awaited both participants and supporters before everyone headed home.

Happy New Year everyone!
