Brain Health Part 2
Optimizing Mood & Mental Well-being in Later Life
Live Oak Hall in The Lake House
Saturday, March 9, 2024
1:30 pm – 3:00 pm
To help us better understand aging, Seabrook Island Village (SIV) is hosting its second educational seminar on brain health. In the first seminar the presenters defined brain health for various age groups and ways to delay the onset of cognitive impairment/dementia. On Saturday, March 9, 2024 the presenters will address how to optimize mood and mental well-being in later life. SIV invites all Seabrook Island residents to attend. Pre-registration is required and can be done on the SIV website: www.SeabrookIslandVillage.org.
The presenters will be Dr. Mary Hart Bryan, MD, and Dr. Randi Curtiss, DO. Both are geriatric psychiatrists, faculty members at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) working in the MUSC Health Institute of Psychiatry, and experienced clinicians.
During their one-hour presentation on March 9, 2024, Drs. Bryan and Curtiss will discuss the prevalence of depression in older adults, depressive disorders and their symptoms, depression in other medical conditions, depression versus normal grief, effective treatment therapies, healthy habits and routines to prevent depression, and when and how to seek help. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.
SIV, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, looks forward to seeing you at what promises to be an informative and educational sequel program.
