The Bohicket Half Marathon and 5k, sponsored by the Kiawah-Seabrook Exchange Club, is taking place on Seabrook Island tomorrow, Saturday, November 23, 2024, beginning at 8:00 am. Runners will be on the Seabrook Island course from 8:00 am until approximately 11:00 am. Please use caution during this time. Volunteers will be stationed at main intersections and other areas of the course to help remind drivers of the race and to direct the runners.
This year’s race will be attended by over 800 runners. Those coming from off the island will be directed to park outside the gate in the lot across from Bohicket Marina, previously used for PGA events. Shuttle buses will bring runners to the start line inside the Seabrook Island gate. As is commonly done for races such as this, some participants may choose to warm up by walking or jogging on the paved path from the parking lot. The finish line is in Freshfields Village.
This annual event was founded in 2010. Thanks to overwhelming support from the running community, it has grown every year and is now a top tier Half Marathon & 5K. The proceeds from the race go to the Charleston Animal Society and the Kiawah-Seabrook Exchange Club, with the Exchange Club using the funds for grants to charitable organizations on Johns and Wadmalaw Islands. Special thanks go to the Seabrook Island Property Owners Association for their help and hospitality in supporting this event.
