Lake House Water Classes Canceled through January 15

The Lake House Indoor Pool temperature remains below 80 degrees. Unfortunately, all water classes will continue to be CANCELED for the remainder of the week as the water temperature is too cold for aerobics in the pool.

We will continue to monitor the pool temperature and post updates regarding classes.

New Pickleball Courts on Seabrook

The Lake House Indoor Pool temperature remains below 80 degrees. Unfortunately, at this time the water is too cold for Water Aerobics and water classes will be CANCELED for Monday, January 11th and Tuesday, January 12th.

A 4-hour session designed for patients who are newly diagnosed, poorly controlled, or who need comprehensive review. Covering pathophysiology, nutrition / dietary management, blood glucose monitoring, oral medications, insulin administration, exercise, and complication prevention.Patient will be scheduled to attend Refresher Class as a follow up for Comprehensive Class. The cost for the class is $224. In South Carolina, diabetes education is covered by most insurance companies. Update on The Lake House Indoor Pool

Good news, the pump for the Indoor Pool was delivered and installed today.

The Indoor Pool temperature is currently 78 degrees. We will be tracking the water temperature throughout the weekend. An update of the water temperature will be posted on Sunday evening along with a notice regarding classes in the pool.

Roper St. Francis: Wellness Warriors – 2nd Wednesday of the Month

Wellness Warriors is an all forms of cancer support group for patients, survivors and caregivers.  The group has a wellness focus and includes nutrition and emotional well-being presentations.  Takes place the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 2-3pm at the Cancer Center at the Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital.  Next meeting is on January 13th.

My goal today – somewhat of a change of pace – is to express some of my thoughts on education; and while this piece is slanted to medical education, it could well be directed to other venues, because it involves selection, mentorship, and the basis of leadership. In recent blogs, we have discussed some pretty sober topics – suicide, failure of cancer treatment, and others – and I’ll get back to that type of subject matter in due course. Starting out the new year, however, in an upbeat and futuristic way seems like a good idea – at a minimum, I asked your indulgence for this change of course.
