REMINDER: Audubon Community Meeting – November 1st

This is to remind Seabrookers that the Audubon Community Meeting will take place on November 1st.  All Seabrookers are invited!

Stage 2 of the Audubon International Sustainable Communities Program calls for holding a series of meetings to gather input from the community for Seabrook Island’s AISCP planning process. Each meeting is designed to obtain input for specific focus areas of the program.

The first of these community meetings is scheduled for November 1st, 5:00 to 6:30 PM, in the Live Oak Hall at the Lake House. Refreshments will be served.

The meeting will begin with the AI program manager, Joanna Nadeau, giving a brief general presentation about the AISCP. Her talk will be followed by brief presentations about the three focus areas to be discussed in this meeting: Economic Development & Tourism, Education, and Governance. Attendees will then break into three groups. Each group will gather with one focus area’s champion for a 15-minute session, rotate as a group to a second focus area for 15 minutes, and then go to the third focus area for 15 minutes. The breakouts will be conducted as “brainstorming” sessions to solicit ideas, thoughts, and comments from residents of the community.

The AISCP committee will schedule additional community meetings in the coming months to address the remaining focus areas. There are a total of 17 focus areas, so four community meetings are currently planned, but this may be adjusted as the meetings proceed.

Again, please join us on November 1st from 5:00 to 6:30 PM in the Live Oak Hall at the Lake House for interesting discussion and refreshments.
