Birders Set Great Backyard Bird Count

unnamedThe Seabrook Island Birders have set the weekend of Friday, February 17 through Monday, February 20 for the Great Backyard Bird Count.

The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is an annual event sponsored by the National Audubon Society and The Cornell Lab of Ornithology. It is free and allows birders of all levels to participate. A recent article in the Post & Courier this week explains more about the weekend and can be viewed here.

The Seabrook Island Birders (SIB) has scheduled a “Birding Big Day” to coincide with the GBBC and the Owners Weekend on Seabrook Island. Four bird “walks” will be held on Sunday, February 19 at different habitats throughout the day. Please register here for one or all of the Learning Together walks to participate in the fun.

Seabrookers can also participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count with their own observations from wherever they are on February 17 through 20. So don’t miss the fun and help scientists learn more about birds!
