The Trump Administration has announced a new plan to allow exploration for oil and natural gas in waters off every coastal state, including South Carolina. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will hold one hearing on their plan in each affected state. The South Carolina meeting is on Feb 13.
All of South Carolina’s coastal communities have come out in opposition to this proposal along with Governor McMaster, Rep. Mark Sanford and our state representatives. [See the Tidelines article from May 2017 featuring Mayor Ciancio’s letter on this topic here.)
To save our beautiful, pristine coast and protect the economy of the Lowcountry, come to Columbia and make your opposition known.
