The Sea Islands Hunger Awareness Foundation (SIHAF) provides food to needy families and elderly residents of Johns and Wadmalaw Islands through its Blessing Basket Program.
To help facilitate food distribution to Blessing Basket clients, SIHAF needs 300 brown paper grocery bags WITH HANDLES each month. Harris Teeter and Earth Fare offer these bags. (Bags from BI-LO, Publix and Food Lion do not have handles and are not as efficient.)
When you shop at Harris Teeter or Earth Fare, please ask for paper rather than plastic and donate the bags to this program. Drop off brown paper grocery bags with handles in the collection container located in the lobby of the Seabrook Island Lake House, to the right of the reception desk.
This is a great way to help this food distribution program and to recycle your grocery bags at the same time.
