Paper Bags with Handles Still Needed

The paper bags that so many Seabrook residents have been bringing to the Lake House significantly enhance the process of distributing food to clients of the Sea Islands Hunger Awareness Foundation (SIHAF) and several affiliated organizations.  Sincere thanks for everyone’s support!

Bags for Blessing Basket Aug 2018Over 300 bags were used to help transport squash, onions, potatoes, scallions, and watermelon at the SIHAF-sponsored Produce Giveaway on Saturday, August 4 (see photo).  On Saturday, August 18, another 600 bags will be packed with produce, bread and meat and given out to residents of Johns and Wadmalaw Islands at the monthly Blessing Basket program.  Bags have also been shared with the Hebron Zion Emergency Food Pantry and the Fields to Families farm fresh produce distribution program.

When you shop at Harris Teeter or Earth Fare, please ask for paper rather than plastic. Then bring the clean, dry paper bags with handles to the Lake House, where a collection container has been placed in the lobby, just to the right of the reception desk. This is a great way to help deliver food to needy families, individuals and elderly members of our neighboring communities, and to recycle your grocery bags at the same time.

Please keep the bags coming!  Your thoughtfulness and generosity are very much appreciated.
