Join us for the Seabrook Island Garden Club’s January meeting on Friday, January 13, featuring guest speaker, Kevin Jones, from the Coastal Carolina Orchid Society.

The Coastal Carolina Orchid Society is an educational, not-for-profit organization affiliated with the American Orchid Society. They provide people in the Charleston area an opportunity to learn so much more about orchids and a place to interact with other orchid enthusiasts.

Our guest speaker has been interested in orchids since 2001, when he bought his first dozen at the Coastal Carolina Orchid Society auction. Since then, Kevin has amassed a collection of over 1,400 species of orchids and as many hybrids. He has since downsized to a smaller greenhouse, giving away many orchids in the process.

He has served as Vice President of Coastal Carolina Orchid Society for two years, and four years as President, hosting the Orchid Society meetings for the last twelve years in his lab at Charleston Southern University, where he is a Botanist, specializing in Plant Taxonomy. Kevin is also an avid (very) long distance runner!
