Seabrook Island Beach Restoration and Renourishment starts tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Thank you to all the people and organizations that have made this happen. Below are updates on boardwalk accesses, a message from SIPOA, and the history of Seabrook Island Beach.
Update on Boardwalk Accesses

- Boardwalk 1 – Is open, but you may want to park your bike at the beginning of the walkway as equipment will be traveling up and down the dirt road next to the walkway. Use the walkway with caution.
- Boardwalk 2 – Will be closed from October 1 – December 31 for the restoration.
- Boardwalk 3 – Is open, but use with caution.
- Boardwalk 4 – Will be closed from October 1 – December 31 due to the replacement of the walkway.
- Boardwalk 5 – Is open, but use with caution.
- Boardwalk 6 – Will be closed from October 1 – December 31 for the restoration.
- Boardwalk 7- Will be closed from October 1 – December 31 for the restoration.
- Boardwalk 8 – This is not a boardwalk with beach access, so it is not affected by the restoration. It is, however, a great place to sit and look at the water.
- Boardwalk 9 – Is currently closed due to damage from Storm Helene. It is not part of the boardwalk closures for the restoration, so it should open after the repairs.
Please note that there will be large trucks and other equipment on the beach, so please use caution when on the beach.
Message From SIPOA
SIPOA has been planning and obtaining permits to conduct sand scraping and seawall repairs along the Seabrook Island shore for the past three years. The scope and schedule of this project were presented at a Get the Scoop meeting at the Lake House on September 17. That presentation can be found here. The entire project will take place between October 1, 2024 and April 30, 2025.
Beginning on October 1, 2024, SIPOA will begin seawall repairs to the section of seawall between Boardwalks 6 and 7. Sand scraping activities will take place between Boardwalks 1 and 7 from October 1 through December 31. Additional seawall repairs from Beach Club Villas to the Pelican’s Nest will be completed from January 1 through April 30, 2025. A figure outlining the impacts on beach access can be found above. Boardwalks highlighted in yellow will remain open and residents can access the dry sand beach in this area but should avoid accessing the intertidal areas of the beach with construction activities and equipment. We appreciate your patience as we work to keep Seabrook Island’s shoreline in great condition.
