Events Scheduled for Easter Weekend 2018

Island House Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday, March 31, at 10:00 am on the Island House front lawn, children of all ages are welcome to come out and join the fun at the Seabrook Island Club’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. No reservations required and all are welcome.

Easter Sunrise Service on The Ocean Terrace
6:30 am open seating, 7 am service begins

On Sunday, April 1, join Church of Our Saviour for a sunrise service on The Ocean Terrace. Complimentary coffee and Danish follow.  Admission is free and no reservations are necessary.  Rain location will be The Atlantic Room.  All are welcome to attend.

Easter Service at Freshfields
9:30 am

On Sunday, April 1, beginning at 9:30 am, join Church of Our Saviour for a casual Easter service on the Freshfields Village Green. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for the outdoor service.

Spring Festival Weekend at Freshfields Village March 30-31

Celebrate the arrival of spring at Freshfields Village with two days of events, including Music on the Green and the Annual Spring Festival.

A special spring edition of Music on the Green takes place Friday, March 30 with live music from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm featuring Shem Creek Boogie Band. The concert is family-friendly and free to attend. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.

The fun continues on Saturday, March 31 with the Spring Festival from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Bring the kids for a variety of fun activities including inflatable games, face painting, balloon art, spring-themed crafts and interactive music. The St. John’s Fire Department will host their “Spring into Safety” event during Spring Festival, complete with fire engine tours, fire extinguisher training, escape planning, fire safety tips and a visit from Sparky the Fire Dog. Don’t forget your camera to grab a family photo with the Easter Bunny, who will be hopping through the Village during the festival.

While the kids play, adults can browse art from the Seabrook Artists Guild, which will hold an art show and sale on the street between Indigo Books and GDC Home featuring local painters and photographers. Food vendors will serve sno-cones, kettle korn, popsicles, BBQ and more throughout the event. Adults can also enjoy a glass of wine or cold beer outside on the patio at FortyEight – A Wine Bar.

Cars and Coffee March 17

1909-Buick Model FArrive in your favorite ride or come by to browse unique, antique and other cool cars at our monthly Cars and Coffee! The next event is at Freshfields Village on Saturday, March 17, 2017, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. This event is held the 3rd Saturday of each month but will not be held in April.

3rd Annual Bohicket Backpack Buddies Bash and Chili Cook-Off March 17

3RD ANNUAL BOHICKET BACKPACK BUDDIES BASH-CHILI COOK OFF!
March 17, 2018 1:00-4:00P.M.

A big ‘Thank You’ to the 1305 Guests and 35 Teams that joined us last year!  Together we cooked up $15,421 to donate to the Back Pack Buddies!  Last year was such an awesome event and it’s time to do it again! This year there are 40 Teams coming together to support ending hunger by providing food to children on Johns Island and Wadmalaw.  Proceeds will benefit children at the following schools:  Mt. Zion, Angel Oak, & Frierson Elementary and also Haut Gap Middle School with backpack meals provided each Friday for their meals over the weekend.  Come out, join us and let’s end childhood hunger in our own backyard!

Art & Wine Walk at Freshfields Village February 16

On Friday, February 16,  2018, Freshfields Village hosts its annual Art & Wine Walk, a yearly celebration of local and visiting artists with various displays featured throughout the Village. From 4:00 pm to 7:00 p.m., attendees are invited to watch live art demonstrations, view works from featured artists, and enjoy live jazz music and tastes of wine. With more than 20 retailers participating, guests will enjoy a full evening of diverse artistic styles and mediums.

Holiday Activities in Our Area

There are a number of activities going on as we lead up to the holiday season.

-Come out to James Island County Park on Riverland Road for the Annual Holiday Festival of Lights. The festival is open every evening, “rain or shine,” from November 10th to  January 1st. Open Sunday thru Thursday: 5:30 – 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday: 5:30 – 11 p.m.  The park offers sculptures made with over 50 tons of sand, rides on the holiday train, treats from Santa’s Sweet Shop, the Victorian carousel, and much more.

-Come visit Santa’s Workshop on the Freshfields Village Green on Friday and Saturday, November 24th and 25th, from 10:00am to 6:00pm for a photo with the ‘Big Man’ and take a turn running down your Christmas list. Each family will receive one free print compliments of the Village merchants.

-Freshfields Village decks the halls on Saturday, November 25th as this annual Holiday Festival returns to the Village Green from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Free children’s activities include face painting by Cupcake the Clown, balloon twisting, inflatable games and rides on the Mechanical Reindeer. There will also be a variety of complimentary holiday craft and activity booths. Enjoy live music throughout the afternoon along with delicious treats available for purchase from local food vendors.

-Visit Santa’s Workshop on the Freshfields Village Green on Sunday, November 26th from 1:00 to 6:00pm for Santa Paws Sunday for a photo opportunity with your pet and Santa Claus. Each pet (and family) will receive one free print compliments of Freshfields Village. Donations will be accepted on behalf of Charleston Animal Society.

-On December 2nd from 10am to 4pm, the Johns Island Farmers Market will be holding a Homegrown Holiday Bazaar with over 100 vendors.  The Holiday Bazaar will take place at Johns Island County Park at Mullet Hall.  Please note, this is a different location from the regular weekly Johns Island market, which is located at the Charleston Collegiate School. The Holiday Carriage & Hay Rides, Antique Tractor Show, Marsh Tacky Horse Meet & Greets, Pony Rides, cookie decorating, and Santa & Mrs. Claus visits in Santa Land are sure to bring holiday cheer to all who visit!

-The Seabrook Island Garden is hosting its’ annual Holiday Open House on December 3rd from 4:00-6:00pm at the Lake House.  Come join your friends and neighbors for some holiday cheer and refreshments.

– The Bohicket Merchants Association is holding a Parade of Boats on Saturday, December 9th from 6:00-9:00pm at the Marina.  The evening will feature a tree lighting, carols sung by the Charleston Coastal Choir, an ugly sweater contest, the boat parade, hot chocolate and s’mores!

-The Town of Seabrook Island annual Holiday Celebration will be held at the Town Hall on Thursday, December 14th from 12:00 to 2:00pm. They’ll be collecting toys for the “Toys for Tots” program at the door….and if you haven’t already met your newly elected Town Council members, the new Town Administrator, or say goodbye to our outgoing Town Administrator, here’s your chance.

Santa Visits Freshfields Village

santaVisit Santa’s Workshop all weekend for a photo with the ‘Big Man’ and take a turn running down your Christmas list. Each family will receive one free print compliments of the Village merchants.

Santa will be available Friday & Saturday, November 24 & 25 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday, November 12 from 1:00 to 6:00 pm.

Sea Islands Cars & Coffee – November 18

Please join us this Saturday, November 18 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am for Sea Islands Cars and Coffee at Freshfields Village. The weather forecast looks great; could be the last “top down” opportunity of the year for those of us with convertibles.

As a reminder, this is an informal event. We park around the green space in the center of Freshfields.  All cars are welcome; old, new, fast or slow!
