Kiawah Heart: The Power of Kindness May 3

Kiawah Heart is an educational nonprofit organization committed to bringing health and wellness information to Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns Islands through their speaker series. Check out their upcoming program.

The Power of Kindness

Presented by Geoff Cox
Saturday, May 3, 2025
3:00 – 5:00 pm
The Sandcastle @ Kiawah

Join Geoff Cox for an afternoon of lecture, guided practices, and dialogue around the theme of the power of kindness. We will explore mindfulness practices that help us embody strength and kindness with ourselves and others. Kindness is often thought of as a weak or ineffectual response to conflict.

We will, instead, approach kindness as a powerful response that creates a pathway for understanding and integrating polarized perspectives, weaving creative solutions in otherwise intractable situations, and bridging across differences while staying connected to what matters most to us.

Disposal of Unused Medications

Is your medicine cabinet full of expired drugs or medications you no longer use? Consumers and caregivers should remove expired, unwanted, or unused medicine from their homes as quickly as possible and properly dispose of them to help reduce the chance that others may accidentally take or intentionally misuse the medicine. This can also be confusing for older people who may have multiple prescriptions.

Prescription-Pills

The best way to dispose of most types of unused or expired medicines (both prescription and over-the-counter) is to immediately use a take-back option. Unfortunately, Vincent’s Drug Store is no longer able to participate in the semi-annual drug take-back program. What are other disposal options?

Living Authentically Workshop

What obstacles keep us from living authentically?

This free workshop will work on one of those possibilities: family of origin.

Join Kathy Maher, Family Constellation Facilitator, as we look at root causes of discomfort carried in our family lineages and attempt to actively begin healing what prevents us from living authentically. This is a participatory workshop preceded by meditation and inner reflection on what is being brought to the light for you to look at.

There are two workshop offerings:

  • Option 1: Thursday, February 13 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Option 2: Monday, February 24 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm

To register, please email Kathy at eksdmaher@gmail.com and include the workshop date you prefer. Space is limited to 14 per session, so please register for one of the two dates. The workshop will be located at the Oyster Catcher Community Center.

Come prepared to engage in the process. It can be fun, you’ll see.
