New Pickleball Courts on Seabrook

pickleball ctsWe are excited to announce our new pickleball courts are complete and are now open for play on Seabrook Island. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America today. Everywhere you turn in this country, more and more people, young and old, are playing and having lots of fun. Whether getting involved for a great cardio workout, to stay in shape, or to compete against others in skill-level tournaments and groups, the game of pickleball can help you stay active and healthy while providing endless hours of social entertainment, fun, and enjoyment.

Reminder!! SINHG Presents Dr. Walter Edgar – Thursday, January 14th

LOGO L-2Just to remind everyone… the Seabrook Island Natural History Group (SINHG) begins 2016 with a very special and unique Evening Program that you won’t want to miss. Dr Edgar

On Thursday, January 14th we will have the honor of a presentation by the famous historian, Dr. Walter Edgar. Dr. Edgar is best known for hosting the popular weekly radio show “Walter Edgar’s Journal” and the daily feature “South Carolina A to Z” on ETV Radio.
In anticipation of a high level of interest in this program, the program will be held in the Atlantic Room of the Seabrook Island Club. The program will begin at 6:30 PM with the usual refreshments along with a cash bar for those so inclined. Dr. Edgar’s presentation will begin at 7:30. We hope to see you there!

All Seabrook Island residents and guests are welcome. There is a $5 donation for non-SINHG members. Information about future programs and SINHG membership can be found at the SINHG web site, sinhg.org.

Southern Living Magazine Highlights Area Beaches

seabrook-islandDid you miss seeing the advertisement In the January 2016 issue of Southern Living magazine, called Charleston, S.C., The Must-See Soul of the South?  It mentions the historic area and hotels with water views, but also highlights area beaches from Isle of Palms to Seabrook Island. The advertisement provides a website,  CharlestonAreaBeaches.com, which allows you to select your beach.  If you click on Seabrook Island, it takes you to lovely photos of our island with links to the Town of Seabrook Island, the Club, and vacation rental websites.

Seabrook Island Men’s 75+ Won SC State Championship Title!

CONGRATULATIONS!
Seabrook Island Men’s 75+ 3.5 Team captained by Chuck Bensonhaver won the SC State Championship Title! The team dominated local play during the regular season and carried that momentum into local and state playoffs with an undefeated post season record finishing the season only one line short of a perfect sweep!  Seabrook at its finest!

SI Ladies Member Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Habitat for Humanity

The Seabrook Island Ladies Golf Association donated just over $2700 to Sea Island Habitat for Humanity last week. In the aftermath of the EF-2 tornado on September 25 and the record flooding that followed just a week later the Seabrook Island Ladies Golf Association turned their Member Guest Golf Tournament into a fundraiser for the people of Johns Island. The 104 women who participated in the SILGA sold out event on October 15 &16 contributed both on and off the golf course. The money raised was split evenly between buying a shot hit by Randy Murray, Assistant PGA Professional, on a tricky Par 3 hole, and tickets sold for the raffle. Raffle Prizes were generously donated by The Seabrook Island Club and local businesses. The money donated will go to the Sea Island Habitat Repair Care Fund, established to repair and modify owner-occupied homes in need of critical repair. The goal of the Repair Care program is for low-income homeowners on the Sea Islands to be able to live in a safe and healthy environment.  Sea Island Habitat for Humanity is the third oldest Habitat in the country. This independent, nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry partners with people of all beliefs. Sea Island Habitat for Humanity has served its community as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International since 1978 and has provided housing solutions for over 320 local families. Seabrook Island Veterans Day Charitable Golf Event Rescheduled – November 16th

Seabrook Island Veterans Day Charitable Golf Event Rescheduled

The Veterans Day Charitable Golf Event originally scheduled for 11/9 has been rescheduled for Monday 11/16. The event honors veterans who have served the country and raises money to support the Wounded Warrior Project and the Ralph Johnson Veterans Hospital. If you had not originally registered to play but would now like to participate, please call the golf shop at 843‐768‐2529.

The event will be a captain’s choice scramble format beginning with a 9:30 A.M. shotgun start. Teams will be flighted for awards based on total team handicap. There will be pizza and drinks in the club house after play is completed. All Lowcountry residents are invited to participate. Individual registrations are welcomed.

The entry fee for Seabrook Island Club members is $70 plus cart fee. For non‐club members the fee is $120. $50 of the entry fee will be set aside as a charitable contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Ralph Johnson Veterans Hospital. You may register for the event by calling the Golf Shop at 843‐768‐2529 or sending an email to golf@discoverseabrook.com. If you have any questions, call Alan Armstrong at 768‐9252.

CANCELLED: Fall Halloween Festival at Seabrook Island Equestrian Center On Saturday, October 24th

Due to unexpected circumstances, the Fall Halloween Festival at the SI Equestrian Center has been cancelled.

We will have other opportunities in the future to enjoy time together with our equine neighbors. Meanwhile, know that you are always welcome to visit the barn during regular hours. If you look at the Equestrian section listed under Amenities on the discoverseabrook.com website, you will find photos and names of our herd horses. When you drive by or visit barn, you can see how many horses you can identify by name.

Seabrook Island Club Phone System

The Seabrook Island Club has reported that their phone system is temporarily out of service for Club Administration, Equestrian, Food and Beverage
and Golf operations.

They have requested that if you need to contact the Golf Shop today, please call 843.469.4696.

They will be sending out an email when it gets back in service.
