Kiawah Island Arts Council Announces 2026-2027 Season

Kiawah Arts Council is proud to present an extraordinary season filled with familiar favorites, exciting new performances, and unforgettable cultural experiences. Thoughtfully curated to inspire, entertain, and connect our community, this year’s lineup celebrates the power of the performing arts and all it has to offer.

From the elegant opera dinner theatre experience of Puccini & Pasta with Charleston Opera Theatre to electrifying tribute concerts including The Boys in the Band – The Alabama Tribute and On the Border – The Ultimate Eagles Tribute, the spirited Irish traditional music of Dervish in March, and the vibrant African dance of Nobuntu this October, the 2026–2027 season offers something for every artistic taste.

Experience a musical celebration of the Lowcountry! As one of the great cradles of jazz, the Lowcountry’s rhythms and traditions are integral to this musical art form. The Charleston Jazz Orchestra (CJO) weaves together rich history and treasured African and Gullah-Geechie culture and showcases locally inspired arrangements combined with the big band sound.

Joining the CJO for this special concert are members of the internationally renowned chorus, Lowcountry Voices. Known for their harmonious renditions of African-American music, including the soul-stirring sounds of Black gospel, spirituals, and jazz, this ensemble’s sound is deeply rooted in the rich heritage of the South Carolina Lowcountry. The concert is 90 min, with no intermission.

“I draw with my scissors,” says Marie-Helene Grabman, gently dismissing the idea of templates or mechanical cutting devices when asked about her process. Her work—intricate, delicate, and remarkably precise—is created entirely by hand. Marie-Helene practices scherenschnitte, a centuries-old art form in which detailed scenes are cut from a single sheet of paper. Originating in 16th-century Switzerland and Germany, this tradition began as a religious craft in alpine communities before evolving into the richly expressive folk art we recognize today. Now, it is a discipline practiced by few, and mastered by even fewer.

Charleston Stage Presents The Wizard of Oz

Follow the yellow brick road to a world of magic and wonder in The Wizard of Oz! When a sudden twister whisks Dorothy Gale from her Kansas farm to the dazzling Land of Oz, she sets out on an unforgettable journey to find her way back home. Along the way, she meets a lovable Scarecrow, a tender-hearted Tin Man, and a courageous Cowardly Lion—each searching for what they believe they lack. Filled with memorable songs like “Over the Rainbow,” iconic characters, and timeless themes of friendship and bravery, this beloved musical is a heartwarming adventure for audiences of all ages.

Kiawah Arts Council Presents Marshgrass Mamas

Where: Seabrook Island Club, Atlantic Room
When: Friday, August 14 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm

Hailing from Johns Island, the heart of the Lowcountry, The Marshgrass Mamas have been creating their own signature sound since 2001. Rooted in traditional bluegrass and Appalachian old-time classics, their music blends beautiful harmonies, lively instrumentation, and plenty of personality for a performance that is equal parts heartfelt, high-energy, and fun.

Known for their “swampy” Lowcountry style and consistently sold-out shows, The Marshgrass Mamas bring together the sounds of the marsh, the spirit of the shore, and the joy of a girls’ weekend in band form. You can look forward to an entertaining evening filled with toe-tapping music, rich harmonies, and the band’s signature splash of humor.

Seabrook Island Artist Guild (SIAG) offers a free demonstration by renowned local artist, Megan Aline. Mark your calendar:

No registration is needed and it is open to the public at no cost.

Megan Aline, who weaves landscapes and silhouettes into paintings of otherworldly beauty, will demonstrate her unique approach at the September meeting of the Seabrook Island Artists Guild. Winner of the coveted award of excellence at the 2023 “American Women Artists” national exhibition, Megan balances realism with symbolism to capture the movement of light, water, and trees that recall her childhood in Maine. She constructs her works through layers of acrylic paint and intricate masking techniques.

Charleston Jazz Orchestra Announces Fall Schedule

The Charleston Jazz Orchestra returns to the Charleston Music Hall in September with an exciting lineup of world-class performances.

New Exhibit: Four Local Artists Featured at the Living Room Gallery

What comes after a wildly successful debut? At the Seabrook Island Real Estate Office’s Living Room Gallery the answer is simple: something even more captivating.

Following the tremendous response to the inaugural exhibition, “The Treasures of Seabrook Island”, the Gallery and Seabrook Island Artists Guild invite you back for a three-month exhibit July through September featuring four extraordinary artists—each with a distinct voice, medium, and perspective.

Each has been given their own wall and a challenge: to dazzle, surprise, and inspire. Together, they create a rich, immersive experience designed to engage not just your eyes, but your imagination and sense of discovery.
