Sometimes It Takes a Miracle To Unlock the Darkness

The Miracle Worker, one of the most acclaimed dramas of all time—winner of the Tony Award for Best Play, the Academy Award for Best Picture and garnering the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, comes to the Dock Street Theatre in a new production from Charleston Stage. The Miracle Worker tells the moving and powerful story of Helen Keller and her tenacious teacher, Annie Sullivan, who with love and perseverance unlocked the silence and darkness of a lost little girl and gave her the light and life that no one could have imagined.

Backpack Buddies Challenge

Backpack Buddies supporters are simply the BEST!
Mike Gorski, owner of Island Transportation car service, is challenging all Seabrook, and Kiawah residents, as well as past, current and new customers.
He’s asking for help in achieving his goal of a substantial donation to us by matching any donation that is made to Backpack Buddies between now and the Chili Cookoff, March 18th, at Bohicket Marina. That’s right! He’s matching donations! Yours will be worth twice as much to Backpack Buddies! A win, win for BPBSI, as we will be able to feed more children.
Mike has been a consistent friend of Backpack Buddies having generously donated the cash prizes for the first 2 Chili Cookoffs.
If you would like your donation to Backpack Buddies to work twice as hard and double your donation, simply call Mike at 864 316 3894, and ask for details.
BPBSI is a 501c3 charity, all donations are tax deductible.
Thank you in advance to Mike and all that donate and support Backpack Buddies!

Cruise on The Daychanger

Once again, Nick and Emery Macpherson are offering a three-hour cruise for eight on their state-of-the-art boat, the Daychanger. She’s a beautifully appointed, 46-foot Sportfishing boat, complete with a salon, gallery, two staterooms and two heads! You can choose either a morning brunch or sunset cruise and will enjoy exploring Bohicket Creek and the North Edisto River. Chances are, you may encounter a pod of dolphins along the way! Delicious food is part of the package, which may include heavy hors d’oeuvres, dessert and beer and wine. Although holiday and fishing tournament weekends are not available for this cruise, the Macphersons are very flexible and are happy to accommodate the lucky bidder on a mutually-agreed-upon day.

Therapy Cruise

Warren and Julie McCulloch have invited four guests to join them on their 20-foot Sea Hunt named Hydro Therapy for a two-hour-plus late afternoon/early evening cruise along the Kiawah River. This is a prime dolphin-watching area and the perfect location to experience the changing colors of the marsh as the sun settles onto the horizon. Cap’n Warren and First Mate Julie promise the Lowcountry marine and marsh life will put a smile on your face. They are promising appetizers and your choice of adult beverages, too! A mutually-agreeable time can be arranged with the McCullochs for this soothing cruise.

Women Build – April 29 to May 6

It’s that time of the year again!  Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build needs your help.  For decades the Women Build volunteers, who come from all walks of life, work together to build stronger, safer communities. During this special week, women make a difference by helping build a decent and affordable home for a family that needs a hand up, not a hand out.

Volunteers at Women Build.

This year Women Build will be held from Saturday, April 29 to Saturday, May 6 (skip Sunday April 30).  Half day shifts are available from 8:30 am to noon or 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  The full day shifts are from 8:30 am to 4 pm. All half day and full day shifts include lunch.

We need all skill levels. NO construction experience necessary…..we’re serious! If you have a smile and a hammer, we want you. Our friendly staff will be on site to show you how to use every tool you’re comfortable with. Work either a half day or a full day shift. Not so comfortable with a hammer? We need volunteers to help in our hospitality tent.

Gatehouse Barcode Reader Technical Issues March 6, 2017

The gate access barcode reader software company has been experiencing technical issues with its server since approximately February 27. They have notified us that the problem is still being repaired. During the repair period, some barcodes, while active in the SIPOA database, may not activate the gate arm properly.

We appreciate your patience while the company makes the necessary repairs to their system.
