Ed Moran has informed us that the Bald Eagles have had an eaglet! The nest is located between the third green of Ocean Winds and the fourth tee box of Crooked Oaks.
It is high up in what appears to be a dead tree and is quite large. Bald Eagle nests typically run about 4 to 5 feet in diameter and 2 to 4 feet deep. The eagles add more sticks and leaves each year, thus making a larger nest. The interior is covered in moss and feathers to make a soft bed. It is interesting to note that both the male and female eagles build the nests and they like to return to the same nest year after year. They only build a new nest if the old one becomes unstable or is unproductive from the year before.
