Art & Wine Walk at Freshfields Village February 16

On Friday, February 16,  2018, Freshfields Village hosts its annual Art & Wine Walk, a yearly celebration of local and visiting artists with various displays featured throughout the Village. From 4:00 pm to 7:00 p.m., attendees are invited to watch live art demonstrations, view works from featured artists, and enjoy live jazz music and tastes of wine. With more than 20 retailers participating, guests will enjoy a full evening of diverse artistic styles and mediums.

Holiday Activities in Our Area

There are a number of activities going on as we lead up to the holiday season.

-Come out to James Island County Park on Riverland Road for the Annual Holiday Festival of Lights. The festival is open every evening, “rain or shine,” from November 10th to  January 1st. Open Sunday thru Thursday: 5:30 – 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday: 5:30 – 11 p.m.  The park offers sculptures made with over 50 tons of sand, rides on the holiday train, treats from Santa’s Sweet Shop, the Victorian carousel, and much more.

-Come visit Santa’s Workshop on the Freshfields Village Green on Friday and Saturday, November 24th and 25th, from 10:00am to 6:00pm for a photo with the ‘Big Man’ and take a turn running down your Christmas list. Each family will receive one free print compliments of the Village merchants.

-Freshfields Village decks the halls on Saturday, November 25th as this annual Holiday Festival returns to the Village Green from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Free children’s activities include face painting by Cupcake the Clown, balloon twisting, inflatable games and rides on the Mechanical Reindeer. There will also be a variety of complimentary holiday craft and activity booths. Enjoy live music throughout the afternoon along with delicious treats available for purchase from local food vendors.

-Visit Santa’s Workshop on the Freshfields Village Green on Sunday, November 26th from 1:00 to 6:00pm for Santa Paws Sunday for a photo opportunity with your pet and Santa Claus. Each pet (and family) will receive one free print compliments of Freshfields Village. Donations will be accepted on behalf of Charleston Animal Society.

-On December 2nd from 10am to 4pm, the Johns Island Farmers Market will be holding a Homegrown Holiday Bazaar with over 100 vendors.  The Holiday Bazaar will take place at Johns Island County Park at Mullet Hall.  Please note, this is a different location from the regular weekly Johns Island market, which is located at the Charleston Collegiate School. The Holiday Carriage & Hay Rides, Antique Tractor Show, Marsh Tacky Horse Meet & Greets, Pony Rides, cookie decorating, and Santa & Mrs. Claus visits in Santa Land are sure to bring holiday cheer to all who visit!

-The Seabrook Island Garden is hosting its’ annual Holiday Open House on December 3rd from 4:00-6:00pm at the Lake House.  Come join your friends and neighbors for some holiday cheer and refreshments.

– The Bohicket Merchants Association is holding a Parade of Boats on Saturday, December 9th from 6:00-9:00pm at the Marina.  The evening will feature a tree lighting, carols sung by the Charleston Coastal Choir, an ugly sweater contest, the boat parade, hot chocolate and s’mores!

-The Town of Seabrook Island annual Holiday Celebration will be held at the Town Hall on Thursday, December 14th from 12:00 to 2:00pm. They’ll be collecting toys for the “Toys for Tots” program at the door….and if you haven’t already met your newly elected Town Council members, the new Town Administrator, or say goodbye to our outgoing Town Administrator, here’s your chance.

Santa Visits Freshfields Village

Santa will be available Friday & Saturday, November 24 & 25 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday, November 12 from 1:00 to 6:00 pm.

Sea Islands Cars & Coffee – November 18

Please join us this Saturday, November 18 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am for Sea Islands Cars and Coffee at Freshfields Village. The weather forecast looks great; could be the last “top down” opportunity of the year for those of us with convertibles.

As a reminder, this is an informal event. We park around the green space in the center of Freshfields.  All cars are welcome; old, new, fast or slow!

Dogtoberfest: Dogs, Dine and Wine Pet Expo Oct 28

Bring your dog, sip some wine and help out local pet rescues at the 11th annual Dogtoberfest: Dogs, Dine and Wine Pet Expo. The event, which brings together pet rescue organizations from around the Lowcountry, returns to Freshfields Village on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 1:00  to 5:00 p.m.

FYI, Seabrookers Ben (Deborah Robinson’s dog) and Ariel Marcoux (calendar firefighter from Seabrook) will be making their appearances.

In addition to meet-and-greets with local rescue groups and the annual wine tasting, this free event includes:

  • Craft Beer and Delicious Food
  • Live entertainment
  • On-site vendors
  • Pet costume contest at 3 p.m.
  • Blessing of the animals
  • A commemorative wine glass
  • Exciting prizes and giveaways, and more!

Proceeds from Dogtoberfest benefit the participating pet rescue organizations, including Shih Tzus and Furbabies, Grateful Goldens Rescue, Greyhound Pets of America – Charleston, Carolina Coonhound Rescue, Water’s Edge Animal Rescue, Lowcountry Lab Rescue and King Charles Cavalier Spaniel Rescue.

Charleston County Library Bookmobile

The Charleston County Bookmobile comes to Freshfields Village on the first and third Tuesday of every month from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. The Bookmobile will be parked in the lot behind Hege’s and Java Java and will be there on October 3rd and 17th.

Tidelines Morning Report – September 12

Here’s the morning update on what’s happening on Seabrook Island.

There is still flooding in some areas, but overall, the roads are passable.  Law enforcement is checking vehicles at the traffic circle to ensure the drivers should be coming onto Seabrook Island.  Power is still out throughout the Island, but Freshfields Village has power (and coffee if you need it!).
