Meeting Rescheduled for Proposed Island Park Place

At the request of the developers of the proposed Island Park Place Medical Health and Wellness Village, a meeting with a committee of the Charleston County Council has again been delayed.

The Planning and Public Works Committee had been set to hold the meeting on Thursday, January 9, 2025. It is now rescheduled – tentatively – for March 6, 2025. Stay tuned because that could change to an earlier date.

The large development would be located along Betsy Kerrison Parkway, just up the road from Freshfields Village.

January 6 Update: Seabrook Island Master Plan

We hope you enjoyed the holidays with family and friends! As we enter 2025, here is what you can look for regarding the next steps in the Master Planning process.

  • The next major checkpoint will be on February 11. On that day, Kuo Diedrich Chi (KDC) will be on the island to share their initial thoughts and seek input and feedback. That meeting will involve the Master Plan project team, SIPOA, SIC, and TOSI leadership teams, as well as the Focus Group members.
  • This timing will allow for the sharing of directional top-level concepts at the SIPOA and SIC Annual Meetings, which are a few days later. This work is part of Step 3 of the KDC process.

National Day of Mourning January 9, 2025

President Joe Biden has declared January 9, 2025 a national day of mourning following the death of former President Jimmy Carter. A national day of mourning operates like a federal holiday, but in this instance a complete closing of all government operations isn’t required. The following organizations will be closed on January 9:

  • The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq (Bond markets will be open, but will close at 2:00 pm EST.)
  • The United States Postal Service
  • Federal offices

The Post and Computer Center in Freshfields Village will be open on Thursday.
