The Post and Courier is reporting that there may be traffic delays at the Charleston International Airport on South Aviation Avenue this morning, March 31 around 8:00 am until about noon.
Boeing Company is testing their new 787-10 Dreamliner and expecting quite a few guests as well as employees to attend.
If you are flying out of town this morning, you may want to leave earlier than planned.

Monday April 3 from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Tuesday April 4 – Thursday April 6 – from 9:00 am- noon and then 1:00 pm– 5:00 pm
TSA Pre√ enables identified low-risk air travelers to avoid long security lines and take advantage of an expedited screening program. Once approved, participants will receive a “Known Traveler Number” (which can be added to a traveler’s airline profile and reservations) and will have the opportunity to utilize TSA Pre√ ®lanes at security checkpoints when flying on participating airlines (including American, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest and United).
For TSA Preè travelers, there is no need to remove shoes, 3-1-1 liquids, laptops or belts at participating airports, including Charleston.
To participate in the Seabrook Island event, please pre-enroll ahead of time by logging onto TSA Preè at www.identogo.com/precheck.

This program will attempt to better your portrait-making when traveling and/or in uncomfortable cultural situations. Using images that he has made as a professional travel and destination photographer, Kevin will engage the group in a discussion of what makes a better portrait with people that you briefly encounter, but want to make a sincere image of. 
The program will discuss how to be better prepared with your camera and the psychology involved with making photographs that will enhance your visual storytelling. The discussion will be followed with a question and answer session answering any questions that you may have concerning the need of model releases to the type of gifts that might be carried to exchange for the making of photographs. A variety of tantalizing homemade Latin and Caribbean foods will complete the menu. No Rum-Ba-Bash, however, is complete without a little swivel and sizzle. The evening’s Latin music and professional dance demonstration might just set your toes a tapping!

Charleston International Airport officials are advising that minor delays will accompany President Trump’s visit to the Boeing plant Friday.
Airspace restrictions around the President’s arrival and departure will cause minor delays in landings and departures. Additionally, the cell phone lot will be closed until mid-afternoon.

Over the next 3-4 weeks we will have tree service contractors on the island trimming the trees in our roadways.
When trees need to be trimmed that hang over the road, it will be necessary to close the road for a period of approximately 5 minutes.
There will be tree trimming done at the new gatehouse that will also require brief lane closures. If you come to one of these temporary lane closures, please be patient and allow our tree service contractors to work safely.

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a new deadline for states to comply with the new Identification Law, commonly know as “Real ID.” It is now January 22, 2018.
This law, passed in 2005, requires a uniform ID when boarding airplanes and entering military areas, among other places. Nine states; Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Washington have resisted changing their drivers’ licenses to comply with this requirement.
The law was due to take effect this month, but Homeland Security has extended the deadline until next year.
What this means for South Carolina is that starting next year, if the state does not comply, we will have to show a passport, although there is discussion about allowing other forms of ID, such as a Global Entry Card. You may want to check that you have an updated passport and it doesn’t expire before January 22, 2018.

Betsy Kerrison Parkway is the gateway to Seabrook Island. We owe it to ourselves to present the best possible face to our friends and other visitors.
Please come out to help us on Saturday, February 4 (rain date 2/11) to clean up our section of the highway. We will meet to pick up supplies and carpool to the spot at the Lake House at 8:30 AM that day.

Many Seabrookers have asked about the white ties on trees lining the Seabrook Island “Parkway” from the gate to the traffic circle.
I reached out to Mayor Ron Ciancio hoping for an answer. As you may know, the Town is conducting an engineering study regarding possible improvements to the drainage system along both sides of this roadway.
As a result, the Town’s right of way was surveyed. Each tree meeting or exceeding a specific size was included on the survey map. In order to be sure that trees were not double counted or omitted, a white tie was placed on each tree as it was surveyed. Hence, all the larger trees now have white ties. I hope this answers your questions.
