Santa Claus will be available for complimentary photos in Santa’s Surf Shack on the Village Green from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29, and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 30. Be sure to bring your camera or phone as families will be able to capture their own special moment this year. Plus, don’t forget your Letter to Santa to send to the North Pole!

2025 Thanksgiving Holiday Hours

Holiday Hours for Thanksgiving 2025

Contractor Hours – No contractor work Thursday, November 27, through Sunday, November 30. Normal contractor hours resume Monday, December 1.

The Lake House will be closed at noon on Thursday, November 27. All fitness classes will be canceled Thursday, November 27, through Saturday, November 29.

SIPOA offices and ARC/Commercial Access will be closed all day on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28. They will be back to normal hours on Monday, December 1. Trash, recycling, and yard debris will be collected as usual on Monday, December 1.

Harris Teeter will be:
• Open Wednesday, November 26, with normal hours.
• Open Thursday, November 27, from 6:00 am until 2:00 pm.
• Open Friday, November 28, at 8:00 am
• Back to normal hours on Saturday, November 29.

Town of Seabrook Island Offices will be:
• Closed from 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 26.
• Closed all day on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28.
• Back to normal hours on Monday, December 1.

Vincent’s Drug Store will be:
• Open Wednesday, November 26, with normal hours.
• Closed all day Thursday, November 27.

Veterans Day Tuesday, November 11

Veterans Day is a day to reflect on the sacrifice and courage of all U.S. Veterans. It is the day that our country honors and thanks those men and women for their service.

Some Background on Armistice Day and Veterans Day

November 11, Armistice Day, marked the end of World War I. On “the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month,” in a forest near the French city of Compiègne, French, British, and German leaders met and signed an armistice that officially ended “the war to end all wars” that claimed the lives of more than 16 million people over four years.

President Woodrow Wilson originally proclaimed November 11, 1919, Armistice Day to honor the country’s servicemen who served during World War I. The date wouldn’t become a National Holiday until a Congressional Act in 1938 made it so. It would remain a holiday for this select group of soldiers, sailors, and marines until President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill that expanded its intention to celebrate the service of all servicemen and servicewomen from every American war.

It would remain known as Armistice Day for the next 35 years until Congress changed its name to Veterans Day on June 1, 1954. That name has remained unchanged ever since. The date of the Veterans Day celebration has also remained unchanged, except for a brief period of seven years when it was changed to the fourth Monday of every October in 1971 to make sure that it complied with the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. This decision was eventually reversed in 1978 and this holiday has been celebrated on November 11 ever since.

Freshfields kicks off the holiday season with the following events:

Bohicket Half Marathon & 5K Finish Line Party: Saturday, November 22

Join us on the Village Green for the Finish Line Party following the Bohicket Half Marathon & 5K on Saturday, November 22. After crossing the finish line, runners and spectators are invited to celebrate with complimentary food, beverages, and live music. The festive atmosphere will include awards presentations and custom finisher medals. Whether you ran the 5K or the Half, the Finish Line Party is the perfect way to relax, refuel, and celebrate your accomplishment.

Thanksgiving Farmers Market: Monday, November 24, 1:00-5:00 pm

Join us for a special Thanksgiving week Farmers Market on Monday, November 24, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. This food-based market will have an assortment of local produce and prepared foods, as well as other crafts that can be used for the upcoming holidays.

DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

As a part of HCA Healthcare, HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital is committed to improving more lives in more ways. HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital is proud to partner with local law enforcement and other local agencies in support of the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in the fight against medication misuse and opioid addiction. Crush the Crisis events aim to educate our communities on the risk of medication misuse while providing a safe and anonymous way to dispose of medications that may be left over from previous procedures or other medical visits.

Accepted items: Tablets or capsules in any packaging, patches, medicated ointments, lotions, or drops, liquid medications (in leak-proof containers), vape cartridges (without batteries), and pet medications*
Not accepted items: Needles, syringes, lancets, and illegal drugs*

*Accepted and not accepted medications may vary depending on local law enforcement guidance.

To help keep members of our communities safe, Crush the Crisis Prescription Drug Take Back Day events will adhere to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention safety protocols.

Since expanding Crush the Crisis as a nationwide initiative in 2019, our colleagues have helped to safely dispose of more than 88,600 pounds of unused or expired medication. That journey moves forward in 2025 as we continue on the road to our overall goal of 100,000 pounds of collected medication. But we can’t do it without your help!

October Events at Freshfields Village

Freshfields kicks off the fall schedule with the following events:

Fall Art Walk: Friday, October 10, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 pm

For the first time ever, a beloved February event is making a fall appearance. Visitors can pop in and out of retail shops where local artists will be doing live demonstrations and offering works for purchase. Beverages will be offered throughout for an enjoyable evening full of art and experiences.

Dogtoberfest: Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 11:00 am-3:00 pm

In celebration of Halloween, The Village’s most popular pet-friendly annual event returns with an afternoon of canine-themed fun. The Green is abuzz with furry friends in costumes, highlighted by a pet costume contest a 2:00 pm, local vendors with unique dog gear and accessories, adoptable pups from community rescues and more.

Music on The Green: October 17, 2025 from 7:00-9:00 pm

Movies on the Green returns for one more fall showing in October. The free screening will feature Harry Potter for families of all ages to enjoy, complete with a complimentary popcorn station and snacks for purchase.

Garden & Gun BBQ, Bluegrass & Bourbon Event: Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 3:00-6:00pm

The semi-annual Garden & Gun event returns this fall for the fourth installment of this wildly popular event. This free event, in partnership with Garden & Gun, brings together Southern BBQ, live bluegrass music, and specialty bourbon tastings from Kiawah Spirits and FortyEight Wine Bar.

Labor Day Weekend Holiday Hours

Labor Day 2025 will be observed on Monday, September 1. According to History.com, Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It was created by the labor movement in the late nineteenth century and became a federal holiday in 1894. Labor Day weekend also symbolizes the end of the summer season for many Americans.

It is one of eleven federal holidays observed nationally by the US Government. In addition, South Carolina State Government offices are closed as are many banks and businesses.

Holiday hours for the 2025 Labor Day weekend

Trash / Recycling pick-up for single-family properties will be on Tuesday, September 2, instead of Monday. Multi-family properties will be on Tuesday, September 2, and Friday, September 5. Please note the date change for Brown & White Pickup this month due to the holiday. It will be Friday, September 12.

SIPOA offices will be closed Monday, September 1, and reopen on Tuesday, September 2, with normal hours. No contractor work from Saturday, August 30, through Monday, September 1.

The Lake House will be open with regular hours.

Town of Seabrook Island offices are normally closed on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, they will also be closed on Monday, September 1, for the holiday. They will reopen on Tuesday, September 2, with normal hours. Reminder: The office will be closed on Friday, August 29, for AC maintenance. Employees will be working from home.

Labor Day Weekend at Freshfields Village

Come enjoy the last weekend of summer at Freshfields Village. Events include:

Music on the Green – Friday and Saturday August 29 and 30, 2025 6:00-9:00 pm

The finale of Freshfields Village’s 20-event summer concert series takes place over Labor Day Weekend. On Friday, August 29, The Parks Brothers (trio) will be playing. On Saturday, August 30, Julio & the Saltines will close out the season. Guests are encouraged to bring beach chairs and blankets for these free events.

Seabrook Island Artist Guild Show & Sale August 31, 2025 10:00 am-6:00 pm

The Seabrook Island Artist Guild (SIAG) will bring together local artists from Seabrook, Kiawah and Johns Islands to showcase and sell original works on The Village Green. Attendees can stroll through The Village to browse and purchase various artwork.

Freshfields Village is offering free, family friendly concerts featuring a variety of music from regional bands. Here is a list of the bands playing each Friday. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

Fourth of July 2025 Holiday Hours

If you walk on the beach this Fourth of July weekend, look for some wonderful sand art. The sand castle above was created by Isaac Sunseri near Boardwalk 1 on Memorial Day, and he said he would return to build another one on Seabrook Island this weekend.

Independence Day is on Friday, July 4, and is designated as a federal and state holiday. This means most banks and federal offices will be closed.

Juneteenth 2025 Holiday Hours

Juneteenth National Independence Day is a US federal holiday and is the first new federal holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was designated in 1983. This means most banks and federal offices will be closed on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Juneteenth is a portmanteau word formed from “June” and “nineteenth” and commemorates the date when the Emancipation Proclamation was enforced in Galveston, TX, effectively abolishing slavery throughout the United States. Galveston was one of the most remote regions that still had slaves; thus, this enforcement freed the remaining enslaved peoples. Texas was the first state to declare Juneteenth a state holiday in 1980.
